Cooperation and Coordination
PIEPSAP actively seeks to establish cooperation and coordination with other energy initiatives in the region. With respect to institutional sustainability the PIEPSAP is expected to catalyze a process that promotes regional integration and multi-donor cooperation while maintaining an operational focus of the project through the supply of services and support close to the national stakeholders. PIEPSAP actively co-operates with the Import and Petroleum Advisor of the PIFS and co-finances the PIGGAREP project implemented by UNDP Samoa. PIEPSAP has also working level linkages with all major energy initiatives in the region. During the launch of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) for Asia Pacific in May 2006 it was agreed that PIEPSAP and REEEP will closely cooperate. Joint activities are will include promotion of sustainable energy through policy and regulatory initiatives.
For information exchange and efficient communication a PIEPSAP mailing list was created. The list has energy contacts from the region and other relevant stakeholders. For more information on the mailing list visit the following link: PIEPSAP Mailing List.
PIEPSAP has established working relationships with a number of agencies and projects including Pacific Island Forum Secreatariat, Asian Development Bank, REEP, REEEP, UNDP, European Union/European Development Fund, World Bank, SPC/GTZ.
